    • What is Confirmation?

Confirmation is the the Sacrament of Christian Initiation that completes baptismal grace.
      Confirmation:

      • is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
      • unites one closer to Christ and his Church.
      • increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
      • gives a special strength to spread and defend the faith.

"Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the 'sacraments of Christian initiation,' whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For 'by the sacrament of Confirmation [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed."

-Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) 1285

  • Receiving Confirmation

    • Teenagers

At Saint Anthony's and Saint Mary's parishes, Confirmation is typically received 10th grade which is the second year of our Confirmation preperation program which begins in 9th grade. This program uses Chosen: Your Journey to Confirmation by Ascension Press to present the Catholic Faith to teens in a way that keeps their attention as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Learn more about this Confirmation Preperation program by clicking here.

    • Adults

Confirmation can be received by Adults during The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) which is the program for Adults wishing to come into the Catholic Church!

Confirmation can also be received by Adults who are already baptized members of the Church, but who were never confirmed.

Please contact Fr. Will if you have questions or would like more inforation about either program.
